Unaccompanied Youth Eligibility Flowchart

This flowchart helps you determine whether a student living apart from a parent or court-appointed guardian is an unaccompanied homeless youth under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (section 725(6)). It guides you through common scenarios, providing examples of situations where a student IS or IS NOT an unaccompanied homeless youth, as well as situations that need more information before making a determination. All eligibility determinations should be made on a case-by-case basis.
