In this webinar, presenters will cover the practical “back-to-basics” strategies for implementation to effectively support children and youth experiencing homelessness (CYEH), examining the core pillars of McKinney-Vento implementation.

By watching this webinar, viewers will:

  • Be able to describe the purpose and main themes of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, including the definition of homelessness and rights of eligible students,
  • Learn how to identify CYEH using appropriate tools and strategies, and ensure their immediate enrollment and access to services, and

In this webinar, presenters will explore the three federal definitions of homelessness that exist across federal statutes, including those used by programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The webinar will highlight the NCHE resource Understanding and Navigating Federal Definitions of Homelessness issue brief. By attending this webinar, participants will:

  • Learn how relevant school and community partners can apply knowledge of federal definitions of homelessness in their daily work to support children and youth experiencing homelessness.
