Self-paced online training allows you to review training materials at your own pace and at a time of your choosing. Many materials used for self-paced training (e.g. training videos) are the same as those used in live, interactive group training; however in self-paced training, you review these materials on your own.

Understanding Doubled-Up

American Rescue Plan Act – Homeless Children and Youth (ARP-HCY) Funds: Early Implementation

Description: The American Rescue Plan Act (ARP), signed into law as the third COVID-19 federal stimulus bill in March 2021, appropriated $800,000,000 in new education funds specifically for supporting children and youth experiencing homelessness. Join the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE), which operates the U.S. Department of Education’s federal technical assistance (TA) center for the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) program, to:

– Review basic information about ARP-HCY funds, including key areas of funding focus and how funding is being distributed to states and school districts;
– Explore allowable usages of ARP-HCY funds; and
– Learn more about early state- and local-level ARP-HCY planning and implementation.

Education Goals and Supports: A Guided Discussion Tool

Description: In this webinar, NCHE staff showcases the Education Goals and Supports: A Guided Discussion Tool. Many youth and young adults experiencing homelessness have shared that they are interested in pursuing education and training despite the challenges of housing instability, but often are not aware of the options available to them. Educators, case managers, navigators, and other service providers have shared that they would like to have more intentional conversations with youth and young adults experiencing homelessness about their education goals but aren’t sure how to go about it. The webinar introduces the Education Goals and Supports: A Guided Discussion Tool, giving participants the opportunity to tour the tool and be provided suggestions for how to use the tool to guide clients in a discussion of their education and career interests and goals. The webinar also allows participants to consider partnership opportunities in their communities for referring clients to education and other basic needs services.

Serving Young Homeless Children under the Child Care and Development Fund Program

Description: In this webinar, presenters from the National Center for Homeless Education and Child Care Aware of America will explore legislative requirements and implementation strategies for serving young homeless children under the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Program. Presenters from the Alabama Departments of Education and Human Resources also will discuss the development of a state-level collaboration to serve homeless families under CCDF in Alabama. Supporting English Learners (ELs) Experiencing Homelessness: An ARP-HCY Implementation Spotlight *New Sept 2023*
