Local Liaison Welcome

A Welcome from the Director

Local Liaisons,

photo of George Hancock, NCHE DirectorWelcome to the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) and to our web portal designed specifically for local homeless education liaisons. NCHE operates the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. In this role, NCHE provides research, resources, and information enabling communities to address the educational needs of children experiencing homelessness. The Center also supports educators and service providers through training and awareness materials.

Realizing that local liaisons are often confronted with student and family issues that require immediate assistance, we have worked to establish a web portal that will meet your specific needs and allow you to access resources quickly. Our goal is to provide you with key documents and protocols that will instill the confidence required to pursue the best interests of children and youth experiencing homelessness. Additionally, we embrace the importance of communication and partnership, and we set high standards for ourselves at NCHE. Therefore, we encourage your feedback and comments. If there are additional resources that would assist you in working to address the needs of homeless children and youth in your district, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I invite you to visit our website frequently and thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of our students.

Very best,
George
